چکیده

Heat extraction from the Ogachi geothermal resource has been carried out in four test periods following creation of the two-layered stimulated HDR reservoir at depths of about 720 and 1000 m. The tests consist of a 20-day hydraulic communication test in 1993, a ISl-day circulation test in 1994, a 3O-day test in 1995, and lodays of production in the summer testing of 1997. The heat extracted from each of these tests has been calculated and the cumulated heat extracted has been estimated in relation to the estimated total heat content of the reservoir.

Designing multi-well layout for enhanced geothermal system to better exploit hot dry rock geothermal energy

Heat extraction mode, e.g. well layout or arrangement of wells, of enhanced or engineered geothermal system (EGS) is crucial to its performance and directly affects its commercial viability. Assuming the subsurface target hot dry rock (HDR) has been well-fractured and the created heat reservoir can be treated as a homogeneous porous medium, we numerically simulate the long-term heat extraction ...

Correlating Quartz Dissolution Kinetics in Pure Water from 25" to 625°c

During the past 50 years, quartz dissolution kinetics and solubility measurements have been the subject of numerous investigations. Researchers have been motivated either because of their interest in understanding important natural geologic processes in the earth or because of a need to quantify dissolution rates for chemical processes above ground or for geothermal heat extraction underground....

Boiler Design Procedure Geothermal Boiler Design Procedure

A concept of "Fractal Fracture Mechanics" for HDR .(Hot Dry Rock) geothermal reservoir design has been developed as an extension of conventional rock fracture mechanics. It is suggested that this concept is successfully applicable to characterize and model subsurface fracture network in HDR geothermal reservoir. Furthermore, this modeling procedure makes it possible to evaluate the thermal ener...

Effect of Natural Convection Patterns on Optimal Location and Size of a Heat Sink in a Geothermal Reservoir

Geothermal energy resources such as geopressured geothermal brine (GGB) reservoirs and hot saline aquifers (HSA) can be potential clean energy resources provided the heat extraction from the subsurface is done in an economic and environmental friendly manner. In the proposed study, we are simulating the heat transfer processes around a downhole heat exchanger placed in a long lateral wellbore i...

Use of CO2 as Heat Transmission Fluid to Extract Geothermal Energy: Advantages and Disadvantages in Comparison with Water

Use of CO2 as heat transmission fluid to extract geothermal energy is currently considered as a way to achieve CO2 resource utilization and geological sequestration. As a novel heat transmission fluid, the thermophysical property of CO2 is quite different from water. It has many advantages, such as larger mobility and buoyancy resulted from the lower density and viscosity. This will reduce the ...
